The Edelstein Group specializes in the selection and development of executives. We are a founder of one-to-one executive coaching as described in
"A Model for Executive Development" published in 1993 in Human Resource Planning. Our coaching-based executive
development program has been cited in several books and articles, most recently in the Winter 1999 issue of Organizational Dynamics, in Developing Leaders
by Jay A. Conger (1999), and in Evolving Practices in Human Resource Management by Allen
Kraut (1999). To date, over 2,000 executives have completed our executive coaching program
in over 50 companies around the world. Our capabilities range from helping a company assess or develop a single executive to developing an integrated executive assessment,
selection and development system.
Distinguishing characteristics of our firm are:
- A focus on the development of managers and executives - all of our processes, whether they be for assessment or selection, are geared to
accelerate the development of the executive so as to be able to produce superior results.
- Principals of the firm possess a blend of organizational behavior and business knowledge - we view the executive's development and
performance challenges through the lens of the business.
Distinguishing characteristics of our methods are:
- Strategic partnerships: we forge strategic partnerships with our clients. HR/OD touchpoints are embedded in our executive coaching
and assessment programs. We believe that for executive development programs to be effective they must enjoy the support of key groups and must
be integrated into the company's processes and systems.
- Quality model: a comprehensive model of both executive coaching and executive development. Our model takes into account the
requirements for executive learning, and our methods have been tested and validated by two outcome studies with large client systems.
- Quality instruments: we utilize a validated and normed 360º survey instrument (Management Factors Survey), which
combines quantitative and qualitative feedback, to drive our coaching-based executive development program. The qualitative feedback is all
important in capturing the executive's attention and properly focusing the Development Plan.
